The challenge
The idea: renting a home in Egypt should be as easy as searching for one. Sukna serves four people at once: a tenant looking for a home, an owner listing a unit, an agency managing many, and an international student who needs a place near their university. The 2023 version broke on phones, its search did nothing and its listings were repeated.
What I designed
- 01Search the way people ask“بتدور على سكن فين؟” (where are you looking?), an area or a university, then the type of home. Results update as you type.
- 02Cards you can compareMonthly price, bedrooms, bathrooms, furnished, and what each home is close to.
- 03One sign-up, three rolesTenant, owner or agency, chosen first so each gets the right next step.
- 04Arabic first, in an Egyptian voiceKufam for headings, Tajawal for text, and a right-to-left layout that works on phones.
Process
- 01
Search
Typing a university narrows the homes to the ones near it.
- 02
Listings
Large photos with a label for who the home suits, then price, rooms and what it is close to.
- 03
Sign-up details
The second step asks only what that role needs.
